Esho Funi (Collaboration with Smake)
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Draw the Line festival, together with Smake we chose the theme of the non-duality of life and its environment. The Buddhist doctrine of Esho Funi frames the human being as part of the vast physical universe: the entity of subjective life and its environment are mutually connected and operate together, creatively. They are a unity and, as the original Chinese characters indicate, they are "two but not two" — just like people with their own neighborhood and their own city.
The piece underlines that, together with the residents of the district, positive change can start from ourselves and our own environment, creating value right where we are.
